This was the first national anthem of the Republic of Zimbabwe (1980-1994). It was derived from Enoch Mankayi Sontonga's original Xhosa composition 'Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika'. Ishe Komborera Afrika was succeeded by 'Simudzai Mureza Wedu weZimbabwe/Kalibusiswe iLizwe leZimbabwe' (oh lift up the banner, the flag of Zimbabwe).
